“Pinwheels For Prevention” Program Launched

Mayor Anthony J. Court in conjunction with Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County, members of UPMC Jamison, launched “Pinwheels for Prevention” this week. “This is a program for child abuse prevention and the pinwheels represents playfulness, joy and childhood and has come to serve as a physical reminder of a great childhood,” said Mayor Court in an e-mailed statement. Pinwheels and ribbons are displayed in the downtown area of Ellwood City. According to UPMC, and by the age of 18, one in 10 children will suffer physical or sexual abuse. Ellwood City Wolves Club Monthly Meeting Recap

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 met on Wednesday April 11, 2024 at the Connequenessing Country Club providing updates on the golf bash and scholarships. President Mike DeOtto opened the meeting and welcomed club members and guests. Golf Bash Chairman Chris Cioffi reported on the February 18, 2024 Golf Bash at the Sons Of Italy. The Golf Bash was a well attended event with 375 golfers there. It raised $22,400.00 for the scholarship fund. A partner in this endeavor is the Divine Grace Christian Mothers. ARISE, Borough Of Ellwood City Help Launch Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Mayor Anthony J. Court along with Johnna Johnston, Grace Schmarewski, and Olivia Gaffron, representatives from ARISE, placed sign around downtown Ellwood City to kick off the Awareness Month. This month is the 23rd anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. 4th Annual Clean Up River Road Event Announced

HARRISBURG – In his continuing efforts to better inform area gun owners regarding Pennsylvania’s firearms laws, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) is hosting a concealed carry seminar on Saturday, April 13, in Butler. Ellwood City Borough Council: Per Capita Letter, Application Sent in Error

When residents opened their electric bills this week, they also received a letter and a Per Capita Tax Exemption Application, but borough officials said both the letter and application should be discarded. Borough Council President Brad Ovial said the letter and form were sent in error. “Disregard the letter and application. It was a mistake that will be corrected and sent out next month,” he said.
