CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On April 3rd at approximately 9:00PM, unknown actor(s) damaged a 41-year-old Wampum female victims vehicle. The unknown actor(s) left front window was damaged. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Edward Allen Laurain, 54, of Ellwood City, is charged with Theft and Criminal Mischief after an incident on March 22nd. Perry Township Annual Clean-Up Day Is June 8th

Perry Township will hold its annual clean-up day on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon). The cost is $10.00 per load with a $50.00 per load fee for larger vehicles than a car or regular pick-up truck. Ellwood City Borough Council Approves Two Year Agreement with Valley Waste Service

During Monday night’s Ellwood City Borough Council meeting, Council approved a two-year option agreement with Valley Waste Service to provide for refuse, recycling & yard waste collection. The new contract expiration date will be June 30, 2026. Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said the first year there will be no increase, and the second option year will come with a four percent increase. The Ellwood City Community Health Foundation (ECCHF) is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 Academic Year through June 30, 2024. The Foundation will issue scholarships each year to individuals who enroll in higher education to pursue a career in the medical field. ECASD’s Board of Directors Tables Motion to Dissolve the District’s Soccer Program

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted to table a motion to dissolve the District Soccer program during their regular meeting Thursday night. The consideration was originally on the agenda after interest in the program seemed to dwindle when a Google Document for sign up wasn’t completed by enough students to develop enough of a roster to hold practices or maintain a consistent team. According to the NWS Pittsburgh, Thursday brought 2.77″ of rain shattering a 90-year-mark, and Thursday was the 25th wettest day on record (records back to 1871) for the Pittsburgh area.  This is already the 3rd wettest April on record according to NWS Pittsburgh records.
