Woodske Speaks At EC Historical Monthly Meeting

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society met Monday March 14. President Everett Bleakney opened and welcomed those in attendance. Guy Prestia, a WWII veteran led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. A moment of silence in memory of four past presidents was observed. They were Glen Koach and Robert Barensfeld in 2021 and Jim Hockenberry and Karen Guy in 2022. Lous Liebendorfer, secretary and Charles Brown, treasurer gave their monthly reports which were approved as given. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On March 15, at approximately 5:05 p.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a residence on Park Drive, Wampum Borough, Lawrence County to investigate a report of criminal mischief. According to the report, an unknown actor(s) damaged a door hinge on a tool shed at the Wampum Park. Riverside Archery Team Headed to Nationals in Kentucky

Riverside Archery is Right on Target. The team has been at Riverside for four years now and recently attended the state competition where the high school team placed 6th. The next stop is Nationals in Louisville, KY. Route 588 Road Slide Repair Starts This Week in North Sewickley Township

PennDOT announced slide repair work on Bennetts Run Road (Route 588) in North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, will begin Monday, March 14 weather permitting. Slide repair work, requiring the closure of a portion of Bennetts Run Road between River Road and 7th Street will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Monday morning. Ellwood City Community Garden Seeking Volunteers

The Ellwood City Community Garden is seeking volunteers and donors for its 2022 growing season. The Ellwood City Community Garden, located at 327 Sims Street, is a collaborative project between the Borough of Ellwood City, the local food bank, and many community volunteers and local businesses. The garden is composed of raised beds, each planted, tended to, and harvested by a local family or organization. The harvest is donated to the local food bank in an effort to increase access to fresh, nutrient-dense produce for community members in need.
