Seven Professional Women with Three Goals: Education, Preservation and Recreation. Sisters of the Second Amendment, the newest women’s shooting club in Western Pennsylvania, is now accepting members. The organization’s leaders have been planning the group’s shooting events and mission, which is to promote the rules of safe gun handling and ownership, to provide instruction and training for safe gun handling and ownership, to encourage women to develop their skills in gun handling and marksmanship, and to empower women in self-confidence and self-awareness. Hoyt Mohr, six years old of Chewton, recently raced in St. Louis, MO and was on top of his game, winning the 2015 Kid Kart Restricted Class National title. Mohr is a rookie at racing Go Karts but he is gaining experience every time he goes out on the track. Hoyt started his race career last year at his home track of Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum. He travels with his parents, Scott and Katie, and younger brother Chase to tracks in Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and most recently Missouri as well as attending all race events at his…

For a summer where it’s rained almost every day, the Ellwood City Carpenter’s Project has been extremely fortunate. This week has been mostly sunny and most of the rain has been in the evening, after the volunteers go home. In fact, in its 14 years, the Carpenter’s Project has never had a full day cancellation from rain, according to director Steve Miller. “I refuse to believe that’s a coincidence,” Miller said. Senator Bob Casey was the featured speaker at a ceremony on Monday to rename the Ellwood City Post Office in honor of Medal of Honor winner Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo Jr. The rain held off during the sunny ceremony at 11:30 a.m. yesterday in front of the Post Office. Members of Sabo’s family, various politicians and Ellwood locals gathered around to hear several guest speakers. Sabo was killed in action in the Vietnam War and received the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award, for his actions during the Cambodian Campaign.
