Mayor Presents Tamburitzan Commendation

On Sunday, April 9, 2017 The Tamburitzans from Pittsburgh PA performed in Ellwood City. Mayor Court proclaimed April 9, 2019 as “Tamburitzans Day” in Ellwood City, by presenting a Proclamation at the Ellwood City Rotary Club meeting in March. Alena Kucan, who is from Ellwood City was also presented with a commendation by Mayor Court for her outstanding performance and she is viewed by many as a “ROLE MODEL” for the young adults throughout the region. 2017: Predictably Bad Year for Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is spreading wildly across eastern America, with Pennsylvania leading the nation for the most reported cases. Last years numbers were a skyrocketing 12,000+ cases – almost half of the entire reported yearly cases in the USA and three times the amount of the runner up state, New York. Rotary Club of Ellwood City Awarded $1000 District Simplified Grant

The Rotary Club of Ellwood City received a grant to support the reading clubs at the Ellwood City Area Public Library. The Rotary District Simplified Grant is a matching funds grant that is designed to help local Rotary Clubs use a portion of their foundation contributions. Ellwood City Rotary has been awarded grants for area projects as well as international projects. 12th Annual International Showcase Enjoyed at Riverside High School

On Tuesday, March 21, over 100 tenth grade World Cultures students with the support of 10 International Club students presented the Twelfth Annual International Showcase of Countries at Riverside High School. Following months of preparation, displays that showcased 33 nations of the world were opened to students in the Riverside district from grade K through 8. 30 Riverside classes with nearly 700 students toured the Showcase this year. Charlie Clouston, a three-time golden glove champion, and Rosie Morales attended yesterdays council meeting to receive their commendations. Both of the commendations were presented by Council President, Connie MacDonald, who stated the men were being recognized by the Borough for competing in a Pittsburgh boxing invitational in Cuba where they demonstrated outstanding physical skills, great sportsmanship as well as served as an excellent international ambassador for the United States and the Borough of Ellwood City.


Try-Outs for Ellwood City’s First Competitive Cheer Program

Nikki DeLuca, a local competitive gymnastic coach at Diamond Dance Academy, is excited to be bringing Ellwoodian youth their first opportunity to participate in a competitive all-star cheer program. DeLuca will be the head coach of the Ellwood City Explosion All Star Cheer. The Explosion squads will be tailored for any level youth between the ages 5-18, and the cheer group will be co-ed.
