VIDEO: Bernstine Presents Proposed Bill At Electric Press Conference

Yesterday, Republican State Representative, Aaron Bernstine, joined forces with Democratic State Representative, Pam Snyder, to promote change in the unregulated electric utility usage – a practice that occurs not only in Ellwood City, but in over 30 municipalities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. “This is an example of Republicans and Democrats coming together to do the right thing,” Bernstine stated. PHOTOS: Bernstine Among Over Half Dozen Ticketed At Press Conference

During State Representative Aaron Bernstine’s electric press conference yesterday, nearly a dozen attendees, including both he and another state representative were issued parking tickets for parking arguably legally. The conference took place at a residential home on Wampum Avenue – a street that has parking prohibited signs posted along the west side of the street but no signs and no yellow curb present on the opposite side. PHOTO: Senior Receives Ellwood Area Education Association Scholarship

Lincoln High student, Joseph Cortez, received a $1,500 scholarship from the Ellwood Area Education Association. The scholarship is funded every year by contributions from the teachers in the Ellwood City School District. The recipient is selected based on a combination of grades and SAT scores. Information Regarding New Utility Bill Format

Ellwood City Borough Manager Bob Villella released information regarding the updated utility billing format. Villella stresses that although there is a delay in the April billing due to the billing program change-over, residents will still have a full 10 days to pay their bill – which he believes will be arriving next week. “It is not the customers fault that the billing is delayed and they will have the full amount of time to pay their bill as usual.” Villella says the new billing will continue on a 30-31 day cycle and will have much more detailed information including a…

CCBC Honors Graduates, Welcomes Back Founding Faculty Leader, and Debuts Long-Lost Alma Mater

Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) held its annual Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 4 to recognize the Class of 2017 and conclude a year-long celebration of the College’s 50th anniversary. 435 students, who completed their studies in August 2016, December 2016, and May 2017, were awarded an associate degree, certificate, or diploma from the School of Aviation Sciences; School of Nursing and Allied Health; and School of Business, Arts, Sciences, and Technology. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Opening Day

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation hosted their annual opening day ceremony Saturday at Friedhoff Field – an event which the organizations Vice President, Michael Widmaier, said was a success. “The weather held off until the end, parents and grandparents paraded with their kids, the high school baseball players applauded the young players as they paraded onto the field, Mayor Court attended, and Nathan Scott threw the first pitch. Overall the day was successful.” The event had carnival style games including a dunk tank, raffle, parade, Chinese auction, home run derby, and the national anthem sung by a local student….
