During State Representative Aaron Bernstine’s electric press conference yesterday, nearly a dozen attendees, including both he and another state representative were issued parking tickets for parking arguably legally. The conference took place at a residential home on Wampum Avenue – a street that has parking prohibited signs posted along the west side of the street but no signs and no yellow curb present on the opposite side. Lincoln High student, Joseph Cortez, received a $1,500 scholarship from the Ellwood Area Education Association. The scholarship is funded every year by contributions from the teachers in the Ellwood City School District. The recipient is selected based on a combination of grades and SAT scores. Information Regarding New Utility Bill Format

Ellwood City Borough Manager Bob Villella released information regarding the updated utility billing format. Villella stresses that although there is a delay in the April billing due to the billing program change-over, residents will still have a full 10 days to pay their bill – which he believes will be arriving next week. “It is not the customers fault that the billing is delayed and they will have the full amount of time to pay their bill as usual.” Villella says the new billing will continue on a 30-31 day cycle and will have much more detailed information including a…

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation hosted their annual opening day ceremony Saturday at Friedhoff Field – an event which the organizations Vice President, Michael Widmaier, said was a success. “The weather held off until the end, parents and grandparents paraded with their kids, the high school baseball players applauded the young players as they paraded onto the field, Mayor Court attended, and Nathan Scott threw the first pitch.
