Cayla Renee Sudano will use the Lincoln High School Class of 1957 scholarship to continue her education, with the goal of becoming an oncologist at the University of Pittsburgh where she will begin classes Aug. 29 and major in biology/pre-medicine. Announcement of the award was made by James Meehan, 1957 class president, during Lincoln’s 55th annual senior class recognition assembly where he noted the class has given more than $40,000 in scholarships in the past eight years. The Ellwood City Lions Club honored the winners of its third annual “Follow My Leader” writing contest on May 24 at the Connoquenessing Country Club. The first place winner, who was awarded a plaque and a $100 cash prize, was Olivia Morrow. The second place winner, who received a plaque and a $50 cash prize, was Ian Litz. Morrow, Litz, their parents and Tara Lombardo, teacher from Hartman Elementary, were guests of the Lions at the May 24 meeting.
