Municipal Woman’s Club Planning Spring Fashion Show

The Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s Club spring fashion show is set for April 21 at Shakespeare’s Restaurant. About 200 women are expected to attend. Fashions will be provided by Spoiled Chics from Sewickley and Venezie Sporting Goods from Ellwood City, while a jewelry raffle will be provided by Blocher Jewelers from Franklin Township Plaza. Proceeds raised go to the Club’s scholarship fund. Each May, the club awards two $1,000 scholarships. One is awarded to a Lincoln High School senior and one to a Riverside High School senior. Meet Two Pittsburgh Penguins and Raise Money for Kyree’s Dream Team at Beaver County Nissan

Here is your chance to meet two of the Pittsburgh Penguins in person! Patrick Hornqvist and Beau Bennett will be signing autographs and taking pictures at a charity event in Chippewa for Kyree’s Dream Team and The Mario Lemieux Foundation. The event takes place Wednesday night March 16, 2016 from 6 till 8 p.m. at Beaver County Nissan on Route 51 in Chippewa. Mayor Presents Commendation to Ellwood City Fire and Police Personnel

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a commendation to Ellwood City Fire Department and Ellwood City Police Department personnel for their quick response which ultimately saved the life of a resident. “You serve as a reminder how each of us should live our daily lives, going above and beyond the call of duty, dedicated to saving those in need,” the commendation reads. “Life lessons are being taught by your actions and do not go unnoticed by those in the community. These heroic actions will be remembered through conversation and passed onto the future generations.”

St. Elias Orthodox Church (425 Cherry Way, Ellwood City), joining together with fellow Orthodox Christians worldwide, will start Great Lent on Monday, March 14. These special 40 days, followed by Holy Week, are the spiritual preparation for the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ. Portersville Christian School Information Night/Open House

Portersville Christian School will hold an Information Night/Open House on March 29, 2016 at 7 p.m. for families interested in enrolling students for the 2016-17 school year. The Wurtemburg United Methodist Church will have a ‘Second Saturday’ Soup Supper on March 12 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Soups include creamy potato and vegetable beef.
