Portersville Christian School will hold an information Night/Open House on Tuesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. for families interested in enrolling students for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition to kindergarten, there are openings in most grade levels for fall 2016. Interested families who have students entering kindergarten and grades 7 and 9 are encouraged to apply early, since these grades tend to fill up fast. The New Castle Playhouse will hold auditions for the play “Bedroom Farce” on June 27 and 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Annex Theatre. There are roles for four men and four women. Jozek, the Ellwood City Borough’s first police, will retire at the end of this month after nine years of service. His career was honored during a ceremony at the borough council agenda meeting on Monday. Jozek has worked with Sgt. Michael McBride from week one of his training. Since 2007, Jozek has been involved in 247 arrests and 11 bite apprehensions, including sniffing out 789 stamp doses of heroin coated in grease and concealed in a secret compartment in a van. Dayspring Harvest Ministries and the Ellwood City Art Club will host a fashion show and tea on Saturday, May 14.
