Carpenter’s Project: “A Very Successful Year”

Last Friday marked the completion of the 16th successful year of the Carpenter’s Project. Over 230 adults and youth volunteered to assist in the renovation of 75 projects on a total of 46 homes, working from morning until evening all week with a “much needed” half day on Wednesday, Executive Director and volunteer of the project since its fifth year, Steven Miller said. PHOTOS: Touch a Truck Event

The Riverside nonprofit organization, ROAR, hosted a “Touch a Truck” event yesterday as part of their annual fundraising activities. Laura Zelch, a mother of three who attend Riverside, is one of the founders of the organization and thought a “Touch a Truck” event would be a unique and fun way to get the community, especially those with children, interested in the event. “We reached out to our contacts and put together an event we thought would appeal to the children in the community. Stars and Stripes Dance

The Ellwood Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Stars and Stripes Dance on July 22 for the public to enjoy. The Dante DiThomas Band plays swing music, dress is casual and military personnel are encouraged to wear their military ensemble. America’s Night Out Against Crime

On Tuesday, August 1st, neighborhoods throughout Ellwood City are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “34th Annual Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, will involve over 16,500 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. Community Members Encouraged to Partake in Ellwood City Clean Up Day

On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 11a.m. – 2p.m., Mayor Anthony J. Court in conjunction with the Jeff Potter Baseball Tour will have an Ellwood City Clean Up Day.  This is a “Community Wide” event and everyone is invited to participate. Those participating will meet at the Ewing Park Pool Parking Lot prior to 11:00 am. After the clean-up, those participating will be at 1:45 p.m. at the Lions Club Shelter, inside Ewing Park. Vests, gloves and bags will be available for the clean-up and drinks and a lite snack will be provided by McDonalds, Johnny’s and Red Hot.


Unrehearsed Shakespeare in March Park

It’s a midsummer’s night dream.  An open air performance of scenes from Shakespeare play will be held in March Park (next to the Library) on Tuesday July 11th 6:30pm. The Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls in partnership with The New Renaissance Theatre Company presents The Unrehearsed Shakespeare Project’s.  Directed by Elizabeth Ruelas and some the actors will be preforming using the unrehearsed cue script technique. Register for the Children’s Art Camp

Day Springs is now accepting registration for their children’s art camp. The program will be working with ages 7-9 and held on Monday, July 24 to Thursday July 27 from 10a.m. to 11:45a.m. Each day the children will see a short video of artist who highly impacted art as we know it, followed by projects done with graphite, pastel, crayon and colored pencil. Creative thinking is encouraged to help children use their imaginations – this helps them learn how to express themselves in a constructive manner.
