14th National Take-Back Initiative

The Ellwood City Police Department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)  has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day which will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., across the country.   This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications. Ellwood City Police Department will once again participate in this event. Relay Life Meeting

Relay For Life Event Leadership Meeting Thursday, November 9, 2017 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Please join us for our third meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, November 9th at 6pm. Paint Party for Retreat Fund

The North Sewickley Presbyterian Church Retreat Committee is hosting a Paint Party by artist Ken Cole on Saturday, November, 11, 2017 to raise money for the retreat fund to help pay for speakers and scholarships. The session will be from 1:30 to 4:00p.m. at the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church. The cost is $30.00 per person payable at the door, checks payable to the church. Bernstine to Host Paper Shredding Event on Nov. 4

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) will host a free paper shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9-11 a.m. in the Franklin Township Building parking lot, located at 897 State Route 288, Fombell. Free on-site document shredding will be provided by Iron City Workplace Services. “We all know that identity theft is a growing problem both locally and across the country,” said Bernstine. “Now, more than ever, we need to protect our private information and make sure it is destroyed properly. EllwoodCity.org’s Annual Costume Contest

Due to the overwhelming participation with previous years, our annual child’s Costume Contest is happening again! We will be accepting photo submissions starting October 31st and ending Nov 2. Submissions will appear on our Facebook gallery page for voting beginning Friday, November 3rd and voting runs through Thursday, November 9th. The Rules: 1. Dress your kids up for Halloween! 2. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of October 23, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. — Family Laptime, designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers and preschoolers. FREE Hand Sewing Class Offered at Daysprings

A free hand sewing class will be held at Dayspring Gifts on 6th Street in Ellwood City on Saturday, November 4 from 10a.m.-11:30a.m. The class will be taught by local artist and clothing designer, Katie Keally. Participants are requested to bring along an old pair of jeans or denim jacket to transform them into a piece of art! PCS Fine Arts Committee Production of Antigone – Tickets Now on Sale

Portersville, PA -Tickets are now on sale for Portersville Christian School’s Fine Arts Committee’s modern English production of Sophocles’ Antigone. The Greek tragedy, the third chronologically of Sophocles’ Theban plays, will be presented Thursday, November 9, Friday, November 10 and Saturday November 11 at 7 PM each night, at the school, 343 East Portersville Road/Rt. 488 East, Portersville PA 16051.
