VIDEO: Elementary Student Narrates Weekend Events in School Newscast

“Attention all students – we have one really cool thing to report this week that has something to do with this weekend,” Giovanna, an Ellwood City elementary school student, stated during the Perry-Hartman school news production centered around the Let There Be Lights weekend. Sponsored Trees in Ewing Park

Our journalist took a stroll in Ewing Park yesterday and noticed several of the sponsored Christmas trees have been decorated in preparation of this weekend. About the Christmas events: “Let There Be Lights Weekend” begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. The festival will include vendors, entertainment, horse and trolley rides, reindeer, fireworks and the lighting of the Christmas tree. New Year’s Eve Bingo

Holy Redeemer is hosting their New Year’s Eve Bingo on December 31, 2017 at the Catholic Center located at 311 Lawrence Avenue. Doors open at 5p.m. and the cost is $25.00 in advance of $30.00 the day of at the door. $1000.00 coverall with 70+ players – cookie jars and two winner-take-all games! Dinner is included with festivities from 5p.m. until the first break. Tickets can be purchased at regular bingo and the church office.


SPOILER ALERT: House Tour Home Features Musical Theme

One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Leavens household, located at 405 Pershing St., in Ellwood City, is the second home on the list to be decorated for the event. Wampum Area Christmas Parade Celebrates Dr. Seuss Publications

Wampum, PA – Each year, the Wampum Area Christmas Parade Committee prepares floats that do not compete in the popular float contest. They like to add to parade line-up each to assure new and fresh content to complement the familiar traditions. Join the Ellwood City Relay for Life organization for their fourth meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, December 7th at 6p.m. They will be meeting at The Beanery, 212 Portersville Road in Ellport, (the old La Isla Mexican Restaurant). They will continue plans for our 2018 event, theme is Super Heroes, Who is Yours?, tentative date June 2nd downtown. Public input and support is welcome. Nativities On Display Event

During several days during December, the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church will be hosting a Nativities On Display event featuring over 200 displays. The event dates and times are Thursday, Dec 7 from 4p.m.-8p.m., Friday, Dec 8 from 4p.m.-8p.m., and Saturday, Dec 9 from 11a.m.-3p.m. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
