Justin Hand Among Three Tiffin University Golfers To Earn GCAA All-America Scholar Honors

Former Riverside golf standout and upcoming senior at Tiffin University, Justin Hand, was among three Dragon golfers to have earned GCAA All-America Scholar honors according to a press release from the university. Justin Hand, David Siegel, and Matt Flynn earned the distinction with their academic performance in 2022-23. A total of 214 golfers earned the distinction nationally from 80 schools. Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame’s Inaugural Cars and Crafts Event to be Held Sunday

Love cars, crafts, food, and fun? Don’t miss Ellwood City Alumni Hall of Fame’s Inaugural Cars and Crafts Event. It will be held THIS Sunday, August 13th from 2 to 6 p.m. at 501 Crescent Avenue and will feature fun for the whole family. ECASD Board of Directors Meeting: Ewing Park Residents Oppose New Location for Softball Field

Approximately 25 visitors attended Thursday’s Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting—many to express their opposition to the location of the new softball field. During their July meeting the Board of Directors unanimously approved a plan to commit to improving district softball and baseball facilities, including a newly constructed softball field on the Ewing Park School property and renovations to the existing baseball field as recommended by the ECASD Board Athletic Committee at a cost of $3,329,000 (see a list of detailed costs in photos). The Pennsylvania Turnpike continues to progress through stage 3 of construction for a multiphase project involving the total reconstruction and widening of two miles (Milepost 12 and Milepost 14) of the Turnpike’s east-west mainline nearest the Exit 13 Beaver Valley (Beaver Falls/Ellwood City) interchange. “Our contractor continues to establish access roads on the east and west sides of the Beaver River for new bridge construction,” says Crispin Havener, Media Communications Specialist. “Over the past few months, construction got underway to drill shaft foundations for the western piers for the new bridge structures as well as driving piling and constructing footings…

2023 Delmar Golf Course Club Championship Results

The 63rd Annual Delmar Golf Course Club Championship was held August 5th and August 6th, 2023. This year the event featured 63 members and Sam Barry Jr. collected his 11th club championship. Barry, Jr. finished with a two day total of 4 under par, 140 to win by 3 strokes over Broc Boariu and Lino Simeoni. Dave Cappello and Geoffery Bokor captured the A-Flight title while Carson Cappello captured the B-Flight championship. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: On July 24th at approximately 8:51 p.m., PA State Police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle at McConnells Mill Park, Slippery Rock Township. According to the report, and the 29-year-old female victim from Butler, the driver side front window of a 2008 Jeep was smashed and a small multicolor Grateful Dead danccing bear backpack purse was stolen from the vehicle.
