Riverside has advanced to the WPIAL Class-3A Championship game. The #1 seeded Panthers pounded East Allegheny 11-2 Tuesday afternoon at Pullman Park in Butler thanks largely in part to Drake Fox who drove in five on two hits. Last Thursday, third and fourth grade students in Perry Lower Intermediate School participated in the school’s Third Annual Careers on Wheels event. Due to construction at Perry School grounds, the event was held by the stadium at Ewing Park and hosted 21 different vehicles according to Ellwood City School Counselor, Christina Mendillo. Riverside put up five runs in the fifth inning to race away to its way to a 9-1 victory over Freeport on Monday in WPIAL Class-3A quarterfinals action. Two Panthers Team Up In Opening Round Shutout Victory Against Valley

Riverside defeated Valley 8-0 on Thursday in the opening round of the WPIAL Class-AA Playoffs as two pitchers combined in a 16-strikeout shutout performance. Ronnie Harper earned the victory for the Panthers. Harper surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out ten. Sophomore Cristian Lucarelli threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen, striking out the side in each inning. Riverside standout Joe Reed headlined a group of Panthers who qualified for the PIAA Track and Field Championships with their individual performances Wednesday at the 2023 WPIAL Individual Championships at Slippery Rock University. Film Producer & Ellwood Native To Have Film Shown At Strand Theatre Memorial Day Weekend

A hybrid documentary/narrative film titled “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission” will be shown Memorial Day weekend at the Strand Theater in Zelienople. Los Angeles-based filmmaker and Ellwood City native Chris Johnson, along with production partner Mariana Tosca, directed the 90-minute film that was first released in February 2021. EllwoodCity.org published a Q&A Segment on the film and release in May 2021. The film, which took 10 years to complete, honors Johnson’s great-uncle, 1st Lt. Unofficial results from yesterday’s May 16, 2023 primary have been posted. Lawrence County According Lawrence County’s website, there were 13,266 ballots cast in Lawrence County.
