With 2016 underway, we are looking for reader feedback regarding our site redesign. Thank you to all those who participated in our 2015 end-of-year survey. We appreciate and consider everyone’s suggestions. Our new site features a more contemporary interface and a mobile-friendly platform and resolves several technical issues of our previous design. Ellwood Wrestlers Win Gold and Silver at MAC Championships

Ellwood City’s Tyler Alberts won his weight bracket in the MAC championships held on Saturday, Jan. 9. Alberts went 6-0 to claim the top spot in the 126 weight bracket. Tyler Baird also earned a medal as runner-up in the 113 category. Painting Project Spruces Up Ellwood City Family Center

It was with great excitement that Mayor Anthony J. Court worked on a program with Marion Owens of Sherwin Williams to spruce up the Ellwood City Family Center with complimentary paint and professional painters. Weekly Basketball Recap: Ellwood Overcomes 10 Point Deficit For Win Against Beaver

The Ellwood City Wolverines defeated the Beaver Bobcats 61-58 in Tuesday’s home conference game. For most of the game, it didn’t seem Ellwood City would pull through. The Wolverines were left behind as the Bobcasts outscored them 29-19 in the first half. The teams scored an even 16-16 in the third quarter, so Beaver merely had to maintain its lead for the duration of the game. Police: Three People Charged with Simple Assault Against Woman

One woman and two men were charged with simple assault against a woman and a juvenile male was charged with theft. Darcy Young, 29, from Rochester but currently residing in Ellwood City; Adam Pounds, of Ellwood City; Andrew Mercado, 28, from Ellwood City but currently residing in Koppel; and a male juvenile all received various charges for an incident occurring on Dec. 27. Police: Ellwood City Man Charged with Sexual Offenses Against a Minor

An Ellwood City man was charged Monday with several counts of sexual offenses against a minor. According to the criminal complaint, David Lollo, 34, of Ellwood City, conducted sexual behavior around a 13-year old girl during times she was at his residence. The complaint specifies that Lollo exposed himself numerous times in front of the girl. He also attempted to be in a hot tub while he was naked with the girl, as well as laid naked beside the girl on a couch. In one instance, Lollo attempted to forcefully remove the girl’s clothes. UPDATED Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. : Man Has Stand Off with Local and State Police

[Update: McCall was arraigned on a $100,000 bond and placed in the Lawrence County Jail.] Local and state police were involved in a stand off at an Ellwood City home yesterday night. The standoff lasted about seven hours, although no one was hurt. According to the police report, Ellwood City officers received a call that a man was threatening to shoot himself and would shoot anyone that intervened. Officers arrived at the residence on Patricia Drive around 5:45 p.m. and made contact with the defendant, Jeffrey McCall, age 39. MacDonald Voted New Council President and New Members Sworn In

George Celli, Judi Dici and Marilyn Mancini were sworn in at the Ellwood City Borough Council reorganization meeting yesterday. Celli and Dici were elected after serving on council in previous terms and losing elections in 2013. They replace Ralph Chiappetta and John Todorich, who ran unsuccessfully for re-election. Incumbent Mancini won re-election, so the new council is more-or-less an old council. Mayor Anthony J.
