Softball/Baseball Weekly Wrap Up: Lady Wolverines Win Extended Game

The Ellwood girls softball team mercy-ruled New Brighton on Tuesday and outlasted Laurel in an extended 11-inning game on Thursday, continuing their undefeated streak. On Tuesday’s home game, Ellwood’s offense had a decisive first inning, with 14 runs. The game continued until the fourth inning, when the Lady Wolverine’s won by mercy rule 14-2. Ariana Garroway had the most RBI’s with four, and Natalie Greco earned three runs. In batting, Greco, Garroway and Skyla Greco each had two hits. Ellwood Boys Track Team Comes Close to Mohawk

The Ellwood City boys track team came up close to Mohawk in a home meet yesterday, losing 76-74. However, several Ellwood athletes grab first places, including Billy Lott in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs and River Kelly in the javelin and discus throws. For the girls, the meet was a 115-35 loss. Taylor Petrak won the 300 meter hurdles and participated in a winning 4×100 meter relay with Mia DeCaria, Alena Battaglia and Karrington Ketterer. Robert Lane of Youngstown will replace TJ Hill as the performing magician at the Relay for Life Family Friendly Night Out this Saturday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, magician TJ Hill had to cancel his performance. Lane was highly recommended to replace Hill. In addition, the event will feature children’s author Melanie Atmore, who will be selling her book “From a Butterfly’s Eye.” Atmore has graciously offered to donate some of the proceeds to Relay for Life. Police Reports: DUI, Stealing Prescription Pills

Stealing Prescription Pills from a Garbage Bin According to the criminal complaint, on April 12 at approximately 8 p.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle for an expired registration. The operator was cited. The investigating officer asked the passenger, Edward Allen Laurain, Jr., 45, of Ellwood City, for permission to search a backpack. The officer discovered a prescription bottle for oxycodone prescribed to somebody who wasn’t Laruain and containing three Percocets and one Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. Monaca – Community College of Beaver County’s marketing department is the recent recipient of three Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies.
