Saxon Club Trip to Meadows Casino

The Ellwood City Saxon Club is taking a bus trip to the Meadows Casino on April 30. The club is leaving at 12:30 p.m. and returning at 8 p.m. The price is $30 per person, with $15 back in free play. Ferrante Upholstering & Carpeting “Eve of Music”

Ellwood City Track and Field Grabs Individual Wins in Double Meet

The Ellwood City boys and girls track and field started the season yesterday with a double meet versus Beaver and Rochester at home. Both the boys and girls teams defeated Rochester but lost to Beaver. The Ellwood girls dominated much of the field competition against both Beaver and Rochester, with Mia DeCaria winning the high and triple jumps, Goldie Bookamer winning the pole-vault, Karrington Ketterer winning javelin and Madison Morella winning the long jump. EC Junior High Drops Opener 15-4 to Seneca Valley

The Lady Wolverines jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after two innings against the Raiders at Stiefel Park. The lead would prove to be short lived as Seneca Valley plated nine runs in the third and fourth to win going away by a score of 15-4. Taylor Covert led the offense with three singles, two RBI’s and scored once. She also added two stolen bases. Madi Krugh and Olivia Battaglia each added singles and scored once. Baseball/Softball Recap: Ellwood City and Riverside Pick up Wins

The Ellwood City girls softball team won their first conference game against New Brighton 14-0 in a total shutout yesterday. The game was secured in the first two innings by 11 runs. New Brighton had no hits the entire game. Camille Maine had four RBIs, while the team total was 14. Freshman Anna Ferrucci had three hits and three runs, the highest for each. Pitcher Skyla Greco had 14 strikeouts and zero hits against. The Lady Panthers host Laurel tomorrow. Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee Announces Winners and Thanks Sponsors

The Ellwood City Area Egg Hunt Committee thanks everyone who made the 23rd Annual Egg Hunt possible. This year’s egg hunt had over 600 children and 6,000 eggs. Dementia Caregiver Support Group Starts at Ellwood City Hospital

Ellwood City now has an Alzheimer’s caregiver support group to help to those who help others. The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Ellwood City hospital cafeteria. The group is for anyone who is a caregiver for someone with dementia, an umbrella term that includes Alzheimer’s. Attendees provide advice, support and strength to each other so that they may have the strength to care for their loved ones. Portersville Christian School Presents Back to the 80’s Musical

Portersville Christian School will present the musical “Back to the 80’s” on April 21-23 at 7 p.m. each day. The musical features 80’s hits such as “Kids in America,” “Walking on Sunshine,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and many more. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and free for 5 and under. Call 724-368-8787 for tickets. Baseball/Softball Recaps: Ellwood City Softball Starts Season with 10-0 Win

The Lady Wolverines started their season with 10-0 win over Freedom in a home non-conference game on Thursday. The Ellwood City softball team got their first run in the third inning when senior Allie McKelvey stole second and subsequently third and got batted in with a single by senior Mallory Swaggor. The Lady Wolverines overpowered Freedom in the fifth inning with seven runs, followed by two in the seventh inning. Juniors Camille Maine and Eisabella Miller each had three RBIs.
