Lincoln High School Marching Band Saturday Sub Sale

The Lincoln High School Marching Band will be selling submarines on Saturday, April 30. The members will be selling them beginning at 9 a.m. in the high school parking lot and various locations in town. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the students in the upcoming marching band season.


Riverside Seniors Boehm and Boswell Sign Letters of Intent

Two Riverside High School seniors signed letters of intent on Thursday, April 21 for NCAA Division II colleges. Ashley Boehm will be attending Seton Hill University in Greensburg to play softball. She is the daughter of Kerry and Paul Boehm. Michael Boswell will be attending Tiffin University in Toleda, Ohio to play baseball. He is the son of Mike and Nancy Boswell.  


Mayor Announces Summer 2016 Beautification Awards

Mayor Anthony J. Court has announced today that once again Ellwood City’s residents will turn their properties into beautiful landscape displays for everyone to enjoy. As in past years, Mayor Court plans to present “2016 Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to five area residents who are nominated by family and friends for taking pride in their properties and in Ellwood City. Next Mayor’s Crime Watch and Advisory Meetings

The next Mayor’s Advisory Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 3 p.m. in council chambers at the Ellwood City Borough Municipal Building. The Crime Watch meeting will be held the same day at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers. The speakers will be Mayor Anthony J. Court himself and Frank Sniezek. All residents are invited to attend.

Lawrence County Primary Election Results

Aaron Bernstine won the Republican nomination for State Representative in the 10th Legislative District in a three-way race. In state and national elections, Lawrence County largely followed the trend throughout Pennsylvania, with Donald Trump winning a majority for the Republican presidential primary and Hillary Clinton a majority in the Democratic primary. 10,979 Republican ballots and 11,785 Democratic ballots were cast in Lawrence County representing 47.60 percent of registered Republicans and 51.09 percent of registered Democrats. We’ve gotten our first reader submissions to our call for photos and videos of the Wayne Township bald eagles, which includes one of the eagles in flight. It doesn’t appear that the eaglets are big enough to stick above the nest yet. Remember, to find the nest, drive to Rodger’s Park in Ellport, colloquially referred to as “The Hole,” and walk down the nature trail toward the Connoquenessing and several islands. Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation to Celebrate Opening Day this Saturday

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation will celebrate the opening of the summer baseball season on Saturday, April 30 with a parade starting at 11 a.m. in Ewing Park. Events include a home run derby, dunk tank, carnival games, inflatables, prizes and trophies, a 50/50 raffles, a Chinese auction, and more. There will also be a Pitch, Hit & Run event open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 beginning at 4 p..m. in Sanders Field in Ewing Park.


Corona D’Italia April Meeting

Officers and members of Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with the pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Sentinel Lois DiFrischia. Mistress of Ceremonies Mary Quintanilla voiced the invocation for the Easter season. Orator Valerie Valentino presented candy favors and decorated Easter baskets filled with candy and chips to each person in attendance.
