The Lady Wolverines used a three-hit performance by Freshman Ariana Garroway and an early five-run outburst to quickly dispatch the Panthers 15-0 in four innings on Tuesday. Ellwood City mashed three homes runs and used a five-run first inning and four-run second inning to quickly separate themselves from the visiting Panthers. “The team hit from top to bottom in the lineup,” head coach Gary Rozanski said. “We were able to jump on Riverside early and we put the ball in play hard from the beginning.” The victory on Senior Night continued the Wolverines undefeated season (12-0 overall) that will be…

Senate Approves Vogel’s Cost-saving Legislation for Schools

The Senate today (May 10) approved legislation introduced by Senator Elder Vogel that will allow school districts to save thousands of dollars in annual mailing costs. Senate Bill 1077 eliminates the mandate that school districts annually inform parents by physical mailing when the district uses audio and video recording to identify and address discipline issues on school buses. The mailer mandate was included as part of Act 9 of 2014, which gave school districts the ability to use audio recordings on school buses. Opinion: Library’s “Write On” Celebrated the Difficult Path of Writing and Publication

Two Fridays ago, on April 29, the Ellwood City Area Public Library hosted an authors’ fair. There were 22 published authors, which only represented about half of the total authors in the area. That alone is an impressive figure, and it was matched by a decent turnout of supportive Ellwoodians. Even though my current literary ambitions are on a hiatus, I appreciate the recognition from the community, as I’m sure my 21 colleagues do. Becoming a published author is no easy task. Getting published by a major publishing house is a nigh unobtainable feat. First, you have to write a…
