According to the police report, on November 5th at approximately 2:00a.m., an Ellwood officer was monitoring traffic on the corner of Lawrence Ave. and Fourth St. when a black Mercedes C230 sped east on Lawrence Ave. approaching the stop sign on Fourth failing to stop for the sign and then slamming on the brakes to turn sharply into B&B Express’s parking lot to avoid colliding into gas pumps. Mayor Court Presents Local Couple with Commendation

Notification of Tax Office Hours

The tax office reminds the community that the last day to pay the face amount on school tax will be Nov. 15 and the office will be open that day from 9a.m. to 1p.m. The office will be closed on Nov. 16.


Lincoln High Swimmer Signs Letter of Intent

Taylor Petrak, a senior swimmer at Lincoln High School, signed her letter of intent today at the high school in the presence of her parents, Patti and Jay Petrak, after she was offered an athletic scholarship by Ohio State University. The intent stated Petrak will be swimming for Ohio State University over the next four years while she attends college there. Riverside High School Softball Team Fundraising Breakfast

Riverside High School Softball Team Fundraising Breakfast will be held next Saturday, November 12, from 8a.m. to 11a.m. at Lillyville Church Lighthouse in Franklin Township. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for veterans since it is Veteran’s Day weekend, children are $5. There will be pictures with Santa and activities for children, residents can meet the new coaching staff, the varsity players will be helping serve food and clean tables. Criminal Complaints: Former Festival Treasurer Can’t Stay Out of Trouble

Former Festival Treasurer Recently Accused of Stealing Funds Now Accused of Bad Check According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 19, a local landlord reported that she had received a bad check from her tenant, Suzanne Bleakney, 50, of Ellwood City. Suzanne was recently facing charges of theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, after she accusingly stole upwards of $1650.00 from the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival bank account during her time working as the treasurer.
