Lincoln High Graduate to Perform with Tamburitzans

After recently returning home from her Spring Break tour in Florida with the group, Lincoln High graduate, Alena Kucan prepares to perform with the Tamburitzans for their second presentation at Ellwood City’s Lincoln High School. The group, which formed nearly 80 years ago is a group-effort tradition consisting of an array of talented students who continually aw crowds with their unique and culturally diverse performances. Alberts has had an exciting year for wrestling, including signing his letter of intent to wrestle for the next four years proceeding a scholarship offered at Wheeling Jesuit University. RHS Swimmers Place Well at WPIALs, Several Advance to PIAA State Meet

   Riverside High School was well represented at the 2017 Class AA WPIAL Swimming and Diving Championships held March 2 and 3 at the University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Hall.  Nine swimmers qualified in one of three relays and several individual events.   The girls’ 200 yard freestyle relay included senior Erica King, junior Bre Finch, and freshmen Leah Frederick and McKenna Hoyman.  RHS placed 12th in a field of 21 relays, also registering a best time of 1:46.12 almost two seconds faster than their seed time.  The girls’ 400 freestyle relay was swum by King, Finch, Hoyman and freshman Abbie…

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Discussion Group for Adults. Bernstine to Host March 27 Seminar on PA’s Fish and Boat Programs

Ellwood City – To better inform area residents about the many state programs designed to promote fishing and boating activities, state Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) is hosting a free fishing and boating seminar on Monday, March 27, at 5 p.m. at the Ellwood City Borough Building. “We have many anglers and boaters in the 10th District, and I hope they consider coming out to learn what Pennsylvania’s waterways have to offer this season,” Bernstine said. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Regular Monthly Meeting

The regular monthly membership meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society will meet 6:30 p.m., Monday March 13 at the History Center, 310 fifth Street, Ellwood City.
