Creator of Bigfoot The Movie Asks for Community’s Help Getting Movie on Netflix

One of the biggest local hits, Bigfoot The Movie, created by Jared Show, an Ellwood City native now residing in California, was shot in Ellwood City during fall of 2013 and spring of 2014 and is still an often-talked-about subject among locals. What’s Open for Labor Day?

Labor Day, which often marks the end of summer for many outdoor activities such as public pools, is this Monday, September 4, 2017. Labor Day is a federal holiday which means federal buildings are closed including post offices and government buildings. Libraries, banks, most organizations and small businesses (including some pharmacies) will also remain closed. To find out if a business will be open for Labor Day, call ahead. WXED to Air Live Wolverines Football Coverage

Ellwood City’s very own radio station, WXED, will now be airing the Wolverine’s home games live, hosted by their resident on-air personality, Troy Robert. Story Telling Festival: Into the Woods

Ellwood City’s sixteenth annual Story Telling Festival will be taking place Saturday, September 16 from 4p.m.-7:30p.m. at Ewing Park. The event is free to attend. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Sept. 4, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: The library will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday. Wednesday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Police Reports: Gun Found in 2nd Street Business’s Dumpster

Gun Found in 2nd Street Business’s Dumpster According to the police report, on August 28 Ellwood City officers were dispatched to a business on 2nd Street after receiving a call about a gun being discovered in the business’s dumpster. While taking out the trash, two employees noticed a black semi-automatic handgun discarded in the dumpster. They checked the gun to make sure it was not loaded and no magazines were found. The gun had the serial numbers scratched off. One of the employees stated the gun couldn’t have been there more than a couple days because he would have noticed…

First Game of Season: Wolverines Vs. Central Valley

The Ellwood City Wolverines football team will be challenged by Central Valley this Friday during their first official match of the season. The game will be played at Helling Stadium and presale tickets are now being sold. Tickets can be purchased at the high school’s main office today, Thursday 8/31, from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm and tomorrow, Friday 9/1, from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The cost of the tickets are as follows: Students $1.00 Adults $4.00 No student tickets will be sold at the gate on Friday all tickets will be $5.00.

Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. would like to invite all area seniors and their families to attend his free Senior Expo on Friday, September 15 at the Cascade Park Pavilion, 1928 E. 2017 Freshmen: BC3’s Affordability Pays Off

Hartman Students Evacuate School for Fire Alarm

This morning the students of Hartman were evacuated from the school after a fire scare. According to the Ellwood City Area School District, it was a false alarm caused by the roof project taking place at the school. Firefighters inspected the school and gave the all-clear for students to safely go back in. The roof project is now going to be shut down during the day to avoid further similar issues.
