Free Public Wifi Hotspot to be Installed at Pittsburgh Circle Playground

By early October Circle Playground should have public wifi installed courtesy of Armstrong Cable. This will be the third borough-owned property in the community to have free public wifi. The other two areas are the Community Plaza on Lawrence Avenue and the public pool at Ewing Park. Bridge Work Expected to Cause Delays, Traffic & 80-Mile Detour

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is using an innovative engineering procedure, Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC), which allows workers to replace bridges in 55 hours instead of requiring a year or more of roadway construction. As a result, there will be a PA Turnpike closure in our area that will likely have a major impact on travel at the end of September. This closure will result in a significant detour that will add more than an hour to travel time. “Motorists will face a lengthy detour that will add more than an hour to their travel times,” PA Turnpike CEO Mark Compton said….

Man Held at Gunpoint After Stealing Guns According to the criminal complaint, on September 14, officers were sent to a residence in Perry Township for a report of an individual in physical custody by the homeowner for possession of stolen firearms. Upon arrival officers saw Pete Lopez, 42, of New Castle, lying on the ground being secured by the homeowner. Investigation revealed Lopez had stolen firearms from the homeowner while he was staying at the residence off and on for a few weeks with the homeowners daughter. Lincoln High Grad Stars in BC3 Golf Debut

Tyler Good, a 2017 Lincoln High graduate in his first appearance with the Butler County Community College golf team, shot a 4-over 76 Friday to lead the Pioneers to an eight-stroke victory over Westmoreland County Community College in Apollo. Stiefel Hockey Summer Season Wrapup: Firing Squad and Goose Take Division Titles

The Stiefel Hockey league completed its summer season by crowning champions in both its “A” and “B” divisions.  In the “A” division Goose captured the title after sweeping Young’s Barber Shop in a best of 3 championship.  Matt Puntureri led the way for Goose picking up 21 goals in 4 playoff games with help from his brothers Nate, Michael, and Tyler. T.J. The Wolverines came into the evening with their backs against the wall – 0-2 on the season, a 14-game losing streak, and more importantly, the defending 3A State Title team was their opponent for week 3.
