Lillyville Church of God Clothing Closet

Lillyville Church of God has a clothing closet that provides free clothing and shoes to individuals and families experiencing hardships in Franklin Township and the surrounding areas. The next clothing closet date is April 23 5:30pm to 7pm. There will be spring and summer clothes available. Selections will be limited, but shopping bags will be provided. Lillyville Church of God is located on 408 Hickernell Rd. The next clothing closet will be on August 13, fall clothing will be available.


Ellwood City Borough Council April Meeting Brief

The following is a brief summary of the Ellwood City borough council meeting held on Monday, April 16: Visitors Council approved a suggestion from Kathy Brenner to install two Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible swings, one in Ewing Park and one in Heritage Park on Pittsburgh Circle. Brenner said the swings typically cost between $1,300 to $2,000. Coincidentally, Mayor Anthony J. Court said a local business owner approached him to donate a ADA accessible swing. Ellwood City Wolverines Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Mohawk Area Ellwood City Wolverines took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Mohawk Area on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the top of the fifth when Sammy DiCaprio singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Bernstine: Ellwood City Electric Legislation Clears Major Hurtle

HARRISBURG – Taking the first major step toward protecting local residents from skyrocketing electric bills, the state House of Representatives today approved legislation, authored by Rep. Another day, another mercy rule shortened victory for the Lady Wolverines. This time, Ambridge was the victim of a 13-1 five inning win at Stiefel Park.   The offense was potent once again as eight different players pounded out 10 hits on the day. House Bill 2030 Passes, Ellwood Council Hires Lobbyist to Oppose

Yesterday, House Bill 2030, which modifies the Ellwood City borough electric department, passed in a 106-89 vote. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10, New Beaver, will now pass to the state senate. The bill will prevent the borough from transferring funds from the electric department to the General Fund and includes additional provisions for consumer protection. The bill’s language limits its impact to boroughs providing electric to more than one county. Rod & Gun Club Announces Final Turkey Shoot Winners

The Ellwood/Wampum Rod and Gun Club had it;’s final turkey shoot for the season on April 10. The winners were Kurtis Kelly, Jerry Sadler, Chuck Bingle, Frank Miller and Howard Watson. Howard Allison and Carmen Bucci were double winners. Chuck Bingle won the door prize. The winner of the spring season’s door prize was Taran Spielvogel. Ellwood City Football Alumni Dinner Scheduled

The Ellwood City Football Boosters club will be organizing and holding an alumni dinner on Saturday May 12, 2018 at Wayne Township Firehall. Social hour begins at 5:00pm with dinner following at 6:00pm, served by Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ.  The cost for the event is $30.00 and RSVPs must be received by May 4th. Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second.
