Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors Cut Ribbon to Signify, Celebrate Completion of the Perry School Project

Mohawk Eliminates Ellwood City In PIAA Class 3A Playoffs

Mohawk rallied from a second half deficit Wednesday, knocking off Ellwood City for the third time this season – this time eliminating the Wolverines in the second round of the PIAA Class 3A Playoffs. The Warrior used 28 points from sophomore Bobby Fadden as Mohawk collected a 55-50 victory. Ellwood City senior Joseph Roth finished with a game-high 29 points. After a low scoring first half that saw the Wolverines lead 20-15, the teams combined for 42 points in third quarter alone. Ellwood City Community Garden Seeking Volunteers, Donations

The Ellwood City Community Garden is seeking volunteers to cultivate garden plots to benefit those in need, and the best part about it is you don’t have to have gardening experience or provide supplies, you just have to be willing to help. “We are always looking for more volunteers and more interest and community support,” said Kelly Brack, the program’s leader. Jehovah’s Witnesses Launch Invitation Campaign

During March 2024, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be launching a special campaign to invite fellow residents of New Castle and Ellwood City to two special events. On Sunday, March 24th, millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world will gather to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ. The annual observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal will feature a talk highlighting the significance of Jesus’ death and what it means for all of mankind. Bernstine to Host Town Hall Meetings

HARRISBURG – Rep. ECASD Moving Forward with Testing at Proposed Site of Girls Softball Field

Ellwood City Area School District Superintendent Dr. Wesley Shipley announced during Monday’s board of director’s committee meeting that although the district is moving forward with tests and studies on the proposed area for the new girls softball field at the old Ewing Park School site, they are still far away from the building permits and zoning process. Shipley said workers have been at the site to do topographical studies and to take core samples and water perk tests. ELLWOOD, in partnership with Lawrence County School-to-Work, hosted their 18th annual High School Engineering Day on Thursday, March 7, at ELLWOOD City Forge. More than 20 students from area high schools visited the ELLWOOD location to learn about engineering careers and more. The event is designed to be both fun and educational as the students had the opportunity to witness ELLWOOD City Forge’s state-of-the-art forging process as well as material testing and machining. Wolverines Surge In Second Half, Defeat Westmont 62-44 In PIAA Opening Round

Ellwood City used a second half surge to pull away and defeat District 6 Champion Westmont 62-44 in the opening round of the PIAA 3A Playoffs on Saturday. The Wolverines held the Hilltoppers to only 12 points in the second half and recovered from three point deficit in the process. Joseph Roth led all scorers with 31 points. Open House & Ribbon Cutting Set For Perry School Construction Completion

The Ellwood City Area School District is pleased to announce that the construction at Perry Lower Intermediate School has been completed. “We are so excited to bring this project to a close and to allow our students to benefit from the updated learning spaces that are available to them,” said Dr. Wesley Shipley, Superintendent of Schools. The project included updating the electric and plumbing systems as well as installing new HVAC throughout the entire building.
