Football Recaps: Panthers Blowout Lancers; Wolverines Fall To Serra Catholic

Both local schools were hosts in high school football action Friday night, the last Friday of August, with Riverside easily dismissing the Neshannock Lancers 45-14 while the Ellwood City Wolverines were on the losing end of a 24-14 contest against Serra Catholic. For Riverside, the Panthers continued strong offensive play that dates back to last season – scoring 31 points in the second quarter and scoring on their opening possession of the second half to evoke the mercy rule. Franklin Township Tar & Chipping Schedule for Week of September 3

Franklin township has announced their tar and chipping schedule for the week of September 3.  PennDOT uses the tar and chip process, also known as seal coat, to help preserve the surfaces of rural and other low-volume roads in between paving. According to a social media post made by Franklin Township on Twitter, around 20 roads will be worked on during the week of September 3. Ellwood City’s Storytelling Festival

Ellwood City, PA – Ellwood City Community Enrichment and the Ellwood City Area Public Library will be hosting Ellwood City’s 17th Storytelling Festival on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from  4:00pm – 7pm in Ewing Park, Ellwood City, PA.  The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. If data metrics can be measured with pieces of pie, approximatley 750 people showed up to watch the Lincoln High School Blue Band perform their 2018 pre-game and halftime perfromances last night at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park.  The band performed its traditional pregame set list consisting of the drumline’s cadence, the Lincoln High School alma mater, the “Star Spangled Banner”, and “Fanfare” – a tribute to our U.S. military.  The halftime show featured songs such as “Paint it Black”, “ Mr  Roboto”, and “Bad Romance”.
