The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 1:30 p.m.  “Afternoon Book Group for Adults”   The group will discuss the book, “ News of the World” by Paulette Jiles. Riverside Bounces Back In Victory; Wolverines Fall Short On Road

After being handed a lopsided shutout defeat last week, the Riverside Panthers were looking to rebound on their home field Friday night and prevailed in a convincing 24-0 shutout victory over Western Beaver. The Panther defense bounced back in pitching the shutout, allowing less than 150 yards of total offense. The Riverside offense was able to score early and relied on the ground game to dictate the mistake-free victory. Busy Beaver Set To Open New Location On Ellwood Road

Based on information made available on their social media page, Pittsburgh-based Busy Beaver will open its newest store located at 2640 Ellwood Road in New Castle, PA 16101 on September 14, 2018. This location, just north of the Lawrence Village Plaza, is the third new store that has opened for the neighborhood home improvement retailer this year. Similar to Busy Beaver’s new Grove City and Greenville, PA locations that opened earlier in 2018, the 40,000 sq. ft. VIDEO: Man Opens Fire Inside Local Bar When Told To Leave

According to a publish report and video, a regular at a local bar who didn’t want to leave at closing time opened fire overnight Tuesday at a Weisz’s Hazel Manor in Ellwood City.  According to reports the patron refused to leave the establishment which led to a verbal confrontation with the bar owner. With five people inside, including the owner, Michael Allen Henry, Jr., 26, of 185 Kindale Street pulled a 9mm gun out and put it on the bar. Local Student Graduates From Mortuary Institute

Ms. Carmella Marie Teolis recently graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She is the daughter of Samuel A. and Michele Teolis, granddaughter of Samuel Teolis and Don and Toni Rutter. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 2014, after which she attended the Butler County Community College for one year. After BC3, Carmella graduated from the Pittsburgh Technical College with high honors earning a degree in Applied Sciences and Office Administration along with becoming a certified Professional Medical Coder. Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club Results

The Ellwood-Wampum Rod and Gun Club in Wayne Township held a turkey shoot on Tuesday, September 4. The turkey shoot winners were Tom O’Brien, Paul H. Redmond, Larry Baker, and Aaron Kelly. Kelly was a double winner, and Jim Spielvogel won the door prize. Due to Tuesday turkey shoots, trap shoots have been moved to Thursdays. Sign-ups for both trap and turkey shoots begin at 6 p.m. Trap shoot participants should bring extra protection as well as a box of 25 count shells and $3 for each round they plan on shooting in. Local Church To Host A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Members of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church will be serving up a spaghetti dinner as a fundraiser on Saturday September 22 beginning at 4:30 p.m. The menu is spaghetti and meatballs; garlic bread; salad with dressing; dessert, and drinks for adults and children. The cost for this meal is $8.00 for adults (13 & up), $4.00 for children (4 – 12) and children under 4 free.
