Three Wolverine Golfers Qualify At Section Qualifiers Held At Sylvan Heights GC

Jaxon Rozanski posted an even round 72 Tuesday morning to lead a host of three Ellwood City golfers who qualified at the section qualifiers held at Sylvan Heights Golf Course. For his efforts, Rozanski finished 2nd overall in a field of 38 golfers. Joining Rozanski in qualifying were Jordan Keller (+1-73, 3rd Overall) and Gino Biondi (+8-80, T8) at the par-72 course. Ellwood City Borough Council Approves Standing Schedule for Annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, & Entertainment Festival

Ellwood City Borough Council voted Monday night to always hold the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, & Entertainment Festival on the weekend on or surrounding Fourth of July. Council determined that should the Fourth of July fall on a Monday/Tuesday, the festival should be held the weekend before, and if it falls Wednesday/Thursday, it should be held the weekend after. Councilwoman Michelle Lamenza made the motion with support from all council members except Jan Williams. Ellwood Area Family Center Hosting Three Youth Basketball Clinics

The Ellwood Area Family Center will be hosting three youth basketball clinics beginning in October. The basketball sessions will be held at the Ellwood Area Family Center on the North Side of Ellwood City on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning with the Age 5-6 and Age 7-8 sessions starting Tuesday, September 30th. The clinic will run four five consecutive weeks with the Age 5-6 session running from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and the Age 7-8 session following from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The eldest clinic for Ages 9-10 will run from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m….

Amicone Hauls In Last Second TD Pass, Wolverines Edge Mohawk 21-15

A week after a crushing last second loss to Neshannock, Ellwood City flipped the script and earned its last second victory over Mohawk. Tyler Amicone hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass with 9.3 seconds remaining to erase the Wolverines single point deficit. The Wolverines marched down the field in less than three minutes and with no timeouts to secure the comeback conference victory. Late Field Goal Lifts Riverside To 9-7 Victory Over Union

Gage Safran’s 38-yard field goal with 5:33 to play proved the difference in Riverside’s 9-7 victory over Union Thursday night at Union. The Panthers held a decisive advantage in total offense outgaining the host Scotties 364 to 147, but it wasn’t until a drive that began with nine minutes exact on the clock that they were able to take the lead back for good. Those who attended the Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s 38th season kick-off dinner held at the Connoquenessing Country Club on September 8th were treated to a toe-tapping music session by the incomparable Tony Barge. The meeting, the first of the 2025-26 season for the Society, was a great beginning as Barge not only entertained with some country music classics, but also gave an interesting background of the country music genre in the Ellwood City area. PennDOT Invites Pennsylvania High School Students to Join the Ninth Annual ‘Innovations Challenge’

Harrisburg– This week, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invited high school students throughout the state to participate in this year’s PennDOT Innovations Challenge, which encourages students to use their problem-solving, creative and strategic-thinking abilities to solve real-world transportation challenges in a competition among their peers. The Innovations Challenge is open to all students in grades 9-12, regardless of their school’s learning model. ECASD Board of Directors Vote to Retain Architectural Firm in Consideration of North Side and Hartman Construction Projects

Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors voted Thursday night to retain HHSDR to design projects relating to the North Side and Hartman Facility Studies (View a copy of the study here), create bid documents, and seek bids for the projects including alternative bids with options for the project’s scope. The projects, according to the study, come with a probable cost of approximately $9.9 million.
