PHOTOS: Vehicle Crash Leads To Catastrophic Damages To Building

In one way or another, people have dreamed about doing the stunts the professional drivers do in the Fast and Furious movies. However, those same people don’t always put effort into following said dreams, unless an outside force happens to butt in. Lagoon, Koscinski Hired as Armed Police Officers for Ellwood City Schools

The Ellwood City Area School Board hired two armed school police officers for the 2019-2020 school year. Robert Lagoon of Zelienople and Brad Koscinski of Grove City were announced as the first armed officers who will serve the school district thanks to a $156,400 grant provided by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The grant will allow the district to employ the two officers for two years. Ellwood City Football Boosters To Host Pig Roast

There will be a Pig Roast at the Ellport Community Park at “The Hole” on Saturday, July 20. The event will be from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. This is an over 21 event. Food, beverages, and a Cash Prize giveaway s all included with your ticket purchase. Please do not bring any outside beverages. Tickets will be $25 if bought ahead or $30 if bought at the gate. Master Gardeners Host 4th Annual Garden Tour

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County are hosting their Fourth Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 21st from Noon to 5:00 p.m. The tour highlights five area gardens, which can be toured at your own pace. Master Gardeners will be available at each location to answer questions. The tour will consist of five gardens within Lawrence County. The Thompson garden is located in Pulaski where it includes a breathtaking display of daylilies among other beautiful gardens. Just up the road is another garden we will be touring. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include MONDAY, JULY 8 10:00 a.m. – “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. June 30 Dubbed Eric Rayner Day

On June 28, 2019, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to Eric Rayner, declaring that June 30, 2019, as Eric Rayner Day in Ellwood City. Eric was the leader in saving the fireworks display for the Ellwood City Festival, raising $11,000 for the fireworks show. Ellwood City is proud of a great job done by Eric and grateful for all who donated to keep this tradition alive. I believe everyone, in and around the Ellwood City area, enjoyed the fireworks immensely.

FIREWORKS VIDEO, 2019 Ellwood City Festival Summary

Over 150 vendors came out to celebrate Ellwood City’s way to kick off summer over the weekend. Live bands played, painted rocks hidden and found, dancers performed, and winners were announced. To conclude the festivities, fireworks were set off in the Ellwood City football stadium. It looked to be a battle to get fireworks, but our community pulled through, led by 26-year-old Eric Rayner who helped stoke fundraising efforts that doubled projections. Rayner was placed into the Festival Hall of Fame as the man on a mission to save the Ellwood City firework display. This year’s Zambelli display lasted close…

Fifth Beautification Award Has Been Presented

On July 1, 2019, Mayor Court presented Gary Rozanski of Jefferson Avenue, Ellwood City with the 5th 2019 Beautification Award yard sign and gift certificate. Gary’s property shows the effort and care put into making our community beautiful for everyone to enjoy. There is still one more Award and a gift certificate to be presented by Mayor Court for the 2019 Season. Upcoming Tennis Mini-Clinic Planned In Ewing Park

There will be a youth tennis clinic hosted by the Ellwood City Girls tennis team and coaches, marking this year as the 5th year of holding the clinic. “We want kids to find interest in playing tennis and learning about the game,” said girls tennis head coach John DiBuono. The clinic will be held on July 8th, 9th, and 10th from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Ewing park courts. The clinic, open to children 5 to 12, costs $25.
