Gov. Wolf Revises Mitigation Order on Gatherings and Lifts Out-of-State Travel Restrictions

As COVID-19 cases continue to decline and the state’s vaccination plan is amplified, the Wolf Administration announced revised and lifted mitigation restrictions that are effective statewide today. “Pennsylvania is taking a measured approach to revising or lifting mitigation orders,” Gov. Wolf said. “The reason we are seeing cases drop can be attributed, in part, to people following the mitigation efforts we have in place. Wampum Native Named River States Conference Athlete of the Year/Week

Carlow University freshman and Wampum native Keri Lechner was selected River States Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and of the Week for her performance Feb. 15-21. “It honestly felt really amazing to be able to be named the women’s indoor track athlete of the year and week considering I’m a freshman,” Lechner said. “It’s sort of like a fever dream to me.” A Shenango class of 2020 graduate, Lechner was voted the conference’s outstanding track athlete of the year after starring at the RSC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where she won five events and competed in seven events…

PHOTOS: Ellwood City Sweeps Riverside In Doubleheader

The Ellwood City Wolverines girls and boys basketball teams each defeated the Panthers and swept the rivalry doubleheader Tuesday night at Riverside High School. The girls ran away with a 42-12 victory in the first game while the boys used a strong second half to collect its 80-53 victory in the second game of the evening. For the girls, the cousin duo of Junior Kyla Servick and Freshman Claire Noble combined for 30 points. Borough of Ellwood City Adopts Utility Account Budget Plan

According to a press release made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, a utility account budget plan has been announced. The Ellwood City Borough Council adopted Resolution #2004-4 approving a budget payment plan for utility accounts under the following provisions: Customers may complete the application form provided by the Borough during the annual open enrollment period from the third Monday in March through the third Friday in April. The first budget-billing amount will appear on the May utility bill. The maximum budget periods will be twelve (12) months with all balances due to be settled in the 12th month….

LCCTC Students Receive Pride and Promise Award

Seven area students recently were selected as “Pride and Promise Award’ winners for the month of February by the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center (LCCTC) during the school’s February Joint Operating Committee meeting. Each senior Health Assistant student passed the TNAT (Temporary Nurse Aide Test) which (because of Covid) is equivalent to the standard CNA (Certified Nurse Aide) test.
