In a notice made available by the Ellwood City Area School District this week, the School Board of Directors has announced a change to its April 2022 meetings. The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors will have a combined Committee of the Whole and Regular Board Meeting on Thursday, April 7, 2022. The April 14th meeting of the Board is cancelled. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will host its public meeting on Monday, March 14, 2022. This month’s guest speaker will be Thomas Woodske. Tom Woodske was born and raised in New Brighton, Pa, now resides in Franklin Township. He had a long career leading economic and community development projects for Duquesne Light Company, with the State of Pennsylvania, Beaver County, and the Gateway Rehabilitation Center. Portersville Mother Selected To Speak at “HER-story” Woman’s Conference

Upon returning from volunteering abroad, Jennifer Eirhart, her husband and two teenage children continued to experience the joy of giving by sharing comfort and hope from the scriptures with their community in Butler, Pa. According to information made available by the township, Waste Management pulled their dumpsters yesterday at Franklin Township without any notice. Aiken Refuse has agreed to provide the new service. ECASD Bocce Team to Compete in Regional Playoff

“Come on, Now” Who wouldn’t want to be on or support the Ellwood City Area School District’s Bocce Team? Since 2017, the team has been growing and succeeding. In fact, the team is headed to SRU today to compete for the regional playoff after taking 1st place and the gold medal in section playoffs. They defeated Shenango—last year’s gold medal team—12 to 3. Wampum American Legion Offering Its All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast

The Wampum American Legion is starting it’s all-you-can-eat Breakfast event again on Saturday, March 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event is scheduled to take place at the Legion club located at 436 Beaver Street, Wampum, PA 16157. Ellwood City native Doug Tammaro has received the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) University Division Achievement Award. Tammaro, the Arizona State Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, has been recognized as the top Sports Information Director at the NCAA Division I level as a part of CoSIDA’s weeklong Special Awards announcement.
