Don’t Miss the Dog Days of Summer Event

It’s going to be a doggy dog world at Ewing Park this weekend! Don’t miss this year’s Dog Days of Summer event happening tomorrow June 24 and Sunday June 25 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine. The event, which is sponsored by Reeds Services, will benefit police K9s and will feature dock diving dogs, barn dogs, working dogs & k-9 police competitions all weekend long. Borough Manager Announces Projects During Council Voting Meeting

During Monday’s Borough Council Meeting, Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said many projects are planned across the borough of Ellwood City including the addition of a handicapped bathroom at Ewing Park. He also said the borough is working on getting quotes for signs to be placed at the entrances to town at 488 in Ellport and Route 65 from New Castle. The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is partnering with the borough to provide a portion of funding for the project. Ellwood City Borough Council voted to rescind the request by Fifth and Spring, LLC in regards to a Dunkin’ fast food restaurant at the intersection of Fifth Street and Spring Avenue approved during their May 15, 2023 meeting. At that time, council unanimously approved the 2,060 square foot facility as well as a drive thru contingent on the following conditions: No egress permitted onto Fifth Street from the Dunkin’ parking lot; right hand and left-hand turn from the drive thru lane onto Fifth Street; And moving a curbside pickup spot to the middle of the parking lot. 2023 Primary Election Unofficial Results: Ellwood City Borough Council; Ellwood City and Riverside School Boards

Unofficial results from yesterday’s May 16, 2023 primary have been posted. Lawrence County According Lawrence County’s website, there were 13,266 ballots cast in Lawrence County. Of those, 6,434 were Democratic and 6,832 were Republican. The total voter turnout was 27.27% with 30.17% being Democratic and 25% being Republican. Click here for full unofficial results. Slade Recognized as 2023 National Merit Scholarship Winner at ECASD Board of Directors Meeting

Hayden Slade, a senior at Lincoln High School, was recognized during Thursdays Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting after being named a 2023 National Merit Scholarship winner. More than1.5 million students entered the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors.
