Born in Castlewood, PA on September 27, 1940, JoAnne was the daughter of the late John Clifford and Jessie Geraldine Kiesling Johnston.  JoAnne was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph “Ted” Hoffman and her second husband, John “Jack” Montgomery.  JoAnne worked for over 40 years at Freeman’s Buick & Pontiac and later when it became Legend.  She later was one of the original founders of Autosoft International in West Middlesex, where she worked for over 20 years. Sandra Kay Engleman, 79 of Ellport died unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Sandy was born in Beaver Falls and resided in the Koppel, Wampum and Ellwood City areas her entire life.  Working for Ellwood Transit, Sandy was a devoted and loving bus driver, transporting over 3 generations of children to the Ellwood City Schools and was loved by all.  She was also an accomplished florist, creating beautiful floral designs for family members and many weddings. Teresa Damato, 85, of Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Quality Life Services New Castle. Born in Ellwood City on April 11, 1936 she was the daughter of the late David and Lena Luongo Ioanilli.  Teresa married Nicholas Damato on June 27, 1959 and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1998.  She retired from Romar Textiles where she worked as a textile racker.  A member of Holy Redeemer Church and its Christian Mothers, Teresa enjoyed baking, playing cards and doing puzzles.  Her family enjoyed her Macaroni Sundays.  Most of all, Teresa loved spending time…

Linda L. Fox, 72, of Wayne Township passed away at UPMC Jameson Hospital ER on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Born in New Castle on November 28, 1948, Linda was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Herbert Miller.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Fox on May 8, 2008.  They were married on February 8, 1969.  Linda attended Harmony Baptist Church and was a member of the New Castle Elks Lodge #69. Kenneth M. “Skip” Brenner, Jr., 77, of Ellwood City, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at UPMC Jameson. Born in Ellwood City on June 1, 1944, Skip was the son of the late Kenneth and Kass Stanford Brenner.  He drove truck and he also ran the Agway on Zelienople Road.  A Veteran of the US Air Force, Skip served during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 157 and a former member of Mountville Presbyterian Church.  He could usually be found tinkering in his garage and he loved to ride motorcycles.  Skip also enjoyed…

David F. “Mitzi” Moritza, 65, passed away at Quality Life Services New Castle on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Born in Ellwood City on November 3, 1955, Mitzi was the son of the late David and Rose Genivia Moritza.  A 1973 graduate of Lincoln High School, he participated in the school’s initial wrestling program.  He also participated in many local arm-wrestling contests.  Mitzi retired as a custodian from the Seneca Valley School District.  A lifelong fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, he also loved the Baltimore Colts and Boston Celtics.  Mitzi played church league softball…

Glenn Taylor Koach, 97, passed away peacefully of old age on August 18th 2021. Glenn, the son of Roy W. and Edna Taylor Koach, was a lifelong resident of the Ellwood City area, being born and raised in Wurtemburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lincoln High School and soon after enlisted in the Army Air Corp flying more than 25 missions over Germany as a B-24 tail gunner.  At the war’s end he came home to Wurtemburg to work in his father’s grocery store.   At this same time Glenn took advantage of the GI Bill taking night classes to earn his bachelor’s…

Geraldine L. Burns, 89, formerly of Ellwood City, Beaver and Mesa, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 10, 1932, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Sidney and Dorothy Whittington Little.  Her husband, Donald Burns preceded her in death on January 30, 2010.  Geraldine retired from the State Attorney General’s Office in Pittsburgh where she worked as an administrative assistant.  She and her husband lived in Ellwood City for over thirty-five years and once they retired, they split their time between Western Pennsylvania and…

Patricia “Patty” James, 77, of Ellwood City, passed away in her residence on Monday, August 16, 2021. Born in Conway, PA on May 20, 1944, Patty was the daughter of the late Stephen and Josephine Crapis Ecimovic.  Patty was a florist, working at Jean’s Flower Shop on Fourth Street until it closed and later at Heart’s Desire on Lawrence Avenue.  She enjoyed taking trips to the casino and watching HGTV, especially episodes of Property Brothers.  Most of all, Patty loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
