Carol was born in Ellwood City on May 17, 1947 to the late Samuel R. and Lucy (Armalinda) Pistachio. She had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1965, and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Slippery Rock University. Carol worked for Penn State University, Beaver Campus as a librarian. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish, and was a volunteer for the Ellwood City Historical Society.
