Born June 4, 1942 in Akron, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lester Heyl and Wilma Herzig Heyl Columbus. She was married for 57 years to Dean Gallaugher who survives. Cheryl was a member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church. She had worked at Ames and then at Dollar General for many years. She enjoyed bowling.
