Historical Society Fund Drive – A Success!

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society has had fund drives since the early days of the formation of the Society, 33 years ago, with the purpose of the Society to collect, protect and preserve the artifacts of the history of our town and its surrounding area. “The annual fund drive was becoming less effective in raising money to help cover our operating budget, says fund drive chairman Andrew Kindle. “More money was coming in toward dues payments then donations.” The Ways and Means committee at the monthly meeting in June sat down to discuss the problem of low donations. LHS Pie Festival, Riverside Panther Night Scheduled This Week

Two local events this week kick off the back to school season and highlight the fall sports season. T&M Hardware and Rental was one of 14 retailers honored with a Beacon Award during the Beacon Awards banquet held last week in Marco Island, Florida. BC3 Education Foundation Golf Outing Raises Record $115K

(Butler, PA) A golf outing that raises funds for the Butler County Community College Education Foundation on Aug. 6 raised the most money in its 26-year history. The 2021 single-year record of $115,000 follows then-records of $100,000 in 2020 and of $95,000 in 2019. The outing attracted 29 teams representing six western Pennsylvania counties and was held for the 11th consecutive year at Olde Stonewall Golf Club near Ellwood City. Amos L. Mazzant, Jr., 84, of Lake Wales went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital. Ellwood City Man Charged With Carjacking, Robbery

According to a social media post from the New Castle Police Department, a 34-year-old Ellwood City man has been arrested after an incident on Monday. According to the account, and on August 16, 2021, New Castle City Police Department (NCPD) officers were dispatched to the Dollar General store on Center Avenue in West Pittsburg in reference to a carjacking which had just occurred.
