Mayor Court Presents 3rd Beautification Award Of 2024

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented Gina Borselli with the 3rd Beautification Award of 2024. “Congratulations Gina on a job well done,” said Mayor Court in a statement. Gina was presented with a yard sign to display and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. The Mayor wants to thank the residence who have taken their time and effort to spruce up their respective properties and to those who have submitted nominations to the Mayor. Lincoln High School Class of 2024 Graduation Set For Thursday

The Lincoln High School graduating class of 2024 will receive their diplomas on June 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Sgt. Leslie H. Sabo Jr. Memorial Auditorium. Panthers Fall To Punxsutawney In Opening Round Of PIAA Playoffs

The Riverside Panthers fell to Punxsutawney 3-0 Monday afternoon in the first round of the PIAA Playoffs. Parker Stahlman twirled a complete-game four hitter to stymie the Panthers offense and bounced the defending PIAA champions from the 2024 tournament. The sophomore hurler struck out eight and did not issue a walk in his performance that pitted two teams who had squared off just last June in the PIAA semifinals.  Riverside rallied late to knocked off Punxsutawney on its way to its 2023 PIAA Championship. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Arzie Hall, 20, of Ellwood City is charged with Aggravated Assault by Vehicle after an incident on March 26th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 7:35 p.m., police were dispatched to Beaver Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. When police spoke to Hall and his passenger, they were told an argument had occurred and that Hall, the driver of the vehicle, looked away from the road and had hit a nearby telephone pole. This Saturday, June 1st, the Ellwood City Summer Concert Series returns in the Community Plaza! Come out and swing to the sounds of the 40’s and 50’s as the series kicks off with the Dante DiThomas Swing Band! The event is free to attend and will feature a 50/50 raffle. Ellwood City Wolves Host Annual Scholarship Dinner

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II hosted their annual Scholarship Dinner on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Connequenessing Country Club. The club provides 9 scholarships a year ($16,000) to graduating seniors from Lincoln and Riverside high schools and to two community college students. The Wolves Club members, guests, school guidance counselors, community college representatives and Scholarship winners were greeted by Scholarship Committee Chairman John DiBuono.  Dennis Boariu served as Master of Ceremonies.
