Lyme Disease is spreading wildly across eastern America, with Pennsylvania leading the nation for the most reported cases. Last years numbers were a skyrocketing 12,000+ cases – almost half of the entire reported yearly cases in the USA and three times the amount of the runner up state, New York. 40th Annual Maple Syrup Festival

After months of anticipation, the ever-so-popular Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival is finally scheduled for this weekend, Saturday April 1 and Sunday April 2 from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. To prepare for the festival, maple sap is extracted from maple trees scattered throughout the park via a spout and stored in a bucket resting at the bottom of the trees during the winter months, then around spring time the sap is collected and made into the final product – a beloved sugary syrup – which is used to top the all-you-can-eat pancakes served at the event. Try-Outs for Ellwood City’s First Competitive Cheer Program

Nikki DeLuca, a local competitive gymnastic coach at Diamond Dance Academy, is excited to be bringing Ellwoodian youth their first opportunity to participate in a competitive all-star cheer program. Lincoln High Graduate to Perform with Tamburitzans

After recently returning home from her Spring Break tour in Florida with the group, Lincoln High graduate, Alena Kucan prepares to perform with the Tamburitzans for their second presentation at Ellwood City’s Lincoln High School. Florida Company Promises Better Future for Ellwood City Hospital

The Ellwood City Hospital has changed many times since its official opening in 1910, but has only recently been struggling to keep the doors open over the past couple decades. The facility is now looking forward to a brighter future after being sold to Americore Health LLC, a Florida based company specializing in acquiring and managing rural hospitals. Heavy emotions filled Holy Redeemer Catholic School’s lunchroom yesterday during the public meeting about the school’s unexpected closure.
