Tuesday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – Family Laptime, an interactive program designed for babies as young as 6 months old and preschoolers up to 5 years old. The program, which runs through November 22, features stories, songs, finger plays and more. Registration is requested, so call the library for more information.
Tuesday, October 11, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and to discuss writing tips and techniques. New members are always welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, October 12, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Eight Hundred Grapes,” by Laura Dave. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. – Preschool Story Time, designed for children 3 years of age and older. Featured are stories, songs, finger plays and more. Registration is requested, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, October 13, at 3:00 p.m. – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group, which meets monthly, will discuss the book, “The Roar,” by Emma Clayton. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m. – Adult Knitting Group meets weekly to work on individual projects. Members provide their own materials. Anyone interested in joining may call the library for more information.
The library is hosting a program on “Medicare Changes and the Enrollment Period” at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18. The program is designed for individuals already on Medicare or those who are approaching Medicare age. Registration is not required, but those interested in more information may call the library.
The library is also hosting the second of two fall gardening programs presented by the Master Gardeners of Lawrence County set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19. Featured will be a program on the topic, “Mighty House Plants and the Magnificent Orchid.” There is a $5 registration fee, but walk-ins are welcome. A “Spooktacular Halloween Party” is planned for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, October 20, for area children and their families. The event, designed for preschoolers as well as elementary-aged children, will feature games, activities and other Halloween fun. Those attending are invited to wear their costumes if they so desire. Registration is required, so call the library to register or for more information.
The October “Movie Night for Adults” will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26. Featured will be a new-to-DVD film and refreshments. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.
