Robert H. Symons, 71 of Lilac Hill Lane, Volant PA passed away at his residence the evening of August 10th 2016.
Bob was born in New Castle on February 13, 1945 to the late Howard and Myrtle Minshull Symons. He married the former Lucinda “Cindy” McIver on May 31, 1969 who survives him at home.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Union High School and then served in the US Army, serving in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He drove truck for various trucking companies in the area, before his retirement. He was an active member of the Independent Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter and her husband: Natalie Rae and Jeff Mendenhall of Volant; three grandchildre: Anthony, Cameron, and Cassius Mendenhall; his two sisters; Shirley Cousins, Louise Llewellyn, and his brother and wife; Al and Peggy Symons all of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers-in- law: Dave Llewellyn and Dan McIver.
He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20th at the Independent Methodist Church, New Castle, to be conducted by Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert, church pastor.
Interment will be in Volant Cemetery. Turner Funeral Homes was entrusted with arrangements.
