Please join us for an Ellwood City Clean-Up Day!
Inspired by the popular Pokemon Go game, we will be spending the day walking around collecting trash to help make our town a better, cleaner place to live while interacting with each other and having a fun time!
The event is Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We’ll be meeting at the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church on 412 Glen Ave near Circle Playground. We will be there rain or shine.
“Our goal is to help clean up the town while socializing and bringing people together,” Chakayla Hyland, one of the event’s organizers, said. “Ellwood is a small community, and as a small community we need to work together in the divided world that we live in.”
We will provide all of the supplies. Bring your friends, family and neighbors, and we’ll make our city shine! Be sure to wear comfortable clothing. Pokemon players are advised to sport their team color.
We are seeking donations to help cover the costs of trash bags, gloves, refreshments and anything else that we need to purchase for the event. We are also accepting donations of those items alone, as well as baked goods or other refreshments.
We will be having a pizza party later in the evening to celebrate our community effort. Due to the cost of pizza, we will require a minimum $1 donation to attend the pizza party. Any person who donates $5 or more will receive an #Ellwood Pride decal or their Pokemon Go decal.
Donations can be given to Chakayla Hyland or online @eccleanup.hylandshome.com. Any remaining funds will be donated to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. Any additional proceeds that are leftover will be donated to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Please remember, this is for everyone, not just Pokemon players. We look forward to seeing you and having an awesome, successful day!
