Amber McQuistion hit two home runs and tossed a complete game three-hitter to lead the Lady Wolverines to a 5-1 victory over Keystone Oaks Tuesday afternoon in the WPIAL Class 3A Consolation Game at North Allegheny High School.
With the victory the Ellwood City softball team qualified for the PIAA Playoffs.
After Keystone Oaks (17-6 Overall) scratched out a run in the top of the first inning, McQuistion powered a two run homerun to center field scoring Crystal Folino who had singled.
McQuistion allowed only three more base runners as she settled in to her eight strike out performance in the pitching circle.
With Ellwood City nursing a 2-1 lead, the Wolverines struck for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
After a strikeout, Rylee Prestopine and Folino each singled before McQuistion homered to left field to give the Lady Wolverines a 5-1 advantage.
McQuistion finished 2-2 with a walk, two runs scored and five RBIs. Folion knotched two singles and score twice.
Ellwood City (11-6 Overall) will next await the unveiling of the PIAA bracket for their next opponent. The Wolverines lost to top-seeded South Park (18-1 Overall) in the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals.
