Ellwood City — All Aboard Ellwood (AAE) was honored to take part in Ellwood City’s annual Let There Be Lights celebration, joining residents, businesses, and community organizations in kicking off the holiday season.
AAE extends its sincere gratitude to Byrne Bros. Towing for their partnership during the event and for their ongoing support.
The organization also recognizes the tremendous contributions of the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce, the Ellwood Area Historical Society, and the many individuals and businesses whose generosity continues to propel AAE’s mission forward.
Thanks to this strong community backing, AAE is excited to announce that it is close to reaching its fundraising goal. The organization credits this milestone entirely to the enthusiastic support of the Ellwood City community.
AAE looks forward to continuing its mission to build an Industrial and Railroad Museum in downtown Ellwood City.

About All Aboard Ellwood Inc.:
All Aboard Ellwood Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the industrial and railroad history of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Through education, preservation, and community engagement, AAE aims to inspire future generations while celebrating the borough’s proud past.

Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this museum is and if there’s any real interest to the general public outside of the people involved in the organization and their families? This isn’t going to attract any meaningful tourism (lol) to Ellwood City and its just gonna sit there. Feel like this energy (and money) could be better served and spent on something that actually enriches the community.
We appreciate the question and understand the desire to see time, energy, and resources used in ways that truly benefit our community.
This project is not a short-term idea or limited to the families involved. It has been more than five years in the making and has received strong support from private citizens, former mill workers and their families, local businesses, and industry partners.
Our goal is to honor the men and women who came here to work in our mills and the vital role railroads played in industry during that time, and to preserve that history for future generations. Their sacrifices, determination, and pride shaped not only our local industry, but our families and our way of life.
Preserving their stories ensures they are not forgotten and allows future generations to understand where we came from and why this town matters.
Heritage-based projects like this have proven, in many communities, to strengthen local pride while attracting visitors who support small businesses, restaurants, and community events. While tourism is not the only measure of success, we do believe this museum can be a positive, lasting asset rather than “just sitting there.”
We respect that people have different ideas about how to enrich a community, and we encourage anyone who feels strongly about Ellwood City’s future to pursue their own passions and projects that contribute in meaningful ways. Strong communities are built when people care enough to get involved.
We welcome thoughtful dialogue and would be happy to invite you to attend a meeting, learn more about the planning behind this project, and share your ideas.
Thank you for engaging in the conversation.
Respectfully,
AAE Board of Directors.
