Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Donley, 92

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Donley of Land ‘O Lakes, Florida, and formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on July 14, 2025 at the age of 92.

She was born in Ellwood City on September 17, 1933 to Katherine and Oliver Miller. She had one brother, Robert Miller, who predeceased her.

She is now re-united with her beloved husband, Herbert “Gene” H. Donley, Jr., who passed away on March 21, 2009. They had been married for 58 years.

She is survived by two sons, Gene (Susan) Donley of Portersville, and James (Kathy) Donley of Land ‘O Lakes, Florida, four grandchildren, Jerimy, David, Mark, and Kristin Donley, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a beloved niece, Ann Ceccarini and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to work at Riverside High School as Business Manager and School Board Secretary. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the shore, and she and her family had many vacations at Ocean City. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and took great pride in the achievements of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. But anyone who knew Bett well, knew that her passion was reading. SHe loved nothing better than getting lost in a good mystery, and spend a lot of time at the Ellwood City Library. Which is why the family would like to ask that if you would do something in her name, she would have liked nothing better than a donation to that library, and a prayer in her remembrance.

At her request, there will be no service. Internment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery, where she will have eternal rest buried next to her husband.
