Rosetta A. (West) Herbert-Colao, 88

Rosetta A. (West) Herbert-Colao, born in Crider’s Corners (Cranberry Township, PA) on her family’s farm on February 3, 1937, died, Saturday, June 28, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She was born to the late Abraham and Dorothy West. Mrs. Herbert-Colao was married to Nicholas V. Colao of Ellwood City, PA who survives on September 3, 2016. She was married to the late Robert W. Herbert of Ellwood City, PA for 42 years.

Rosetta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City, PA. She was a long-serving member of the church choir, a Sunday School teacher, church council, Women’s Circle Group, ELCA, and serval other various committees and fund-raising events. She graduated from Ellwood City High School in Ellwood City, PA. She also worked at Calgon Corp. (NALCO) and Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, PA. She enjoyed serving God, her community, and loving family. She was an avid Steeler’s fan and Pirate’s fan. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and was known for her Three-berry pie. She is survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law, Renee and Nicholas Gonatas, of Austintown, OH, Roberta and Robert Hill of Boardman, OH, and Rebecca and Michael Rouda of Butler, PA; sister Ruth Cortez, brothers Gary West, and Boyd and Brenda West, and three granddaughters, Alexndra Hill of Clearwater FL, Morgan Hill of Cranberry Township, PA and Katherine Gonatas of Warren, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, who died in infancy and sisters Mary Ann Weisz, Dorothy Jean Swick, Edna Brown, and Louis Peoples, and brother Thomas West.

Visitation is planned for July 5, 2025, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellwood City, PA with Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 11:00 am conducted by Paster David Saylor.The service will also be live streamed through Trinity Lutheran Church’s Facebook page.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellwood City, PA, Alzheimer Association Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, of the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are being handled by Turner-Hyde Funeral & Cremation Services located at 6th and Park in Ellwood City.

  1. My deepest sympathy and Otto her family. Rosetta and I graduated together at Lincoln High School. We have shared many special memories. Rest in Peace Rosetta until we meet again. ✝️🙏✝️
