Seven Wolverines scored in double figures across the Ellwood City boys and girls basketball teams as the two teams swept a double-header at Beaver Falls Friday night.
The Lady Wolverines opened up action Friday night, earning a 53-51 victory behind its balanced offensive attack.
Elise Sturgeon (16 points) was among the four Wolverines in double figures. Caitlin Kreitzer and Delaney Sturgeon each collected 13 points and Kayla Jones finished with 10 points for Ellwood City.
The Sturgeon cousins each hauled in eight rebounds while Kreitzer dished out eight assists in the victory.
Elwood City jumped out to an early 17-4 advantage but saw their double-digit halftime advantage evaporate as the host Tigers (5-5 Overall) clawed back behind Taylor Pullen who scored 15 second half points.
The Lady Wolverines (9-4 Overall, 5-2 Class 3A-1) will next host Quaker Valley on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
The boys basketball team capped off the sweep with 57-45 victory in the late game over Beaver Falls.
Three Wolverines scratched double figures with Kaleb Servick and Aaron Lake each finished with 13 points in the victory. Maykel Cuevas knocked home three 3-pointers en route to 12 points for Ellwood City.
Lake finished with a double-double, adding 15 rebounds (and five assists) in the contest.
The Ellwood City boys basketball team (8-5 Overall, 4-1 Class 3A-1) will next host Aliquippa on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
