Riverside Puts A 10-Spot On The Board In A Fifth Inning Rally To Defeat Neshannock

With their undefeated regular season on the line, Riverside used a 10-run outburst in the fifth inning to stage its rally and knock off Neshannock 12-4 Wednesday.

Trailing 4-1 entering the fifth frame, the visiting Panthers used RBIs by Darren McDade, Sean Hayes, Burry, Ashton Schlosser, Bo Fornataro, and Mitch Garvin to propel ahead.

After a sluggish start, the Riverside offense collected 14 hits on the day. Schlosser (3-4, two 2Bs), Fox (2-4, 1 run), Burry(2-5, 2 RBIs), McDade (2-4, 2 RBIs, 1 BB), Fornataro (2-4, 1 3B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), and Garvin (2-2, 3 runs, 1 2B) all collected multiple hits for the Panthers.

Hunter Garvin took the win for Riverside in relief of starter Ronnie Harper. The southpaw Garvin surrendered one run on two hits over two innings, striking out one. Drake Fox threw two additional innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ronnie Harper started the game for Riverside Baseball Varsity. Harper lasted three innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three and walking one Andrew Frye started the game for Neshannock. Frye surrendered four runs on seven hits over four and a third innings, striking out four

Cam Foy took the loss for Neshannock. The pitcher allowed three runs on one hit. Giovanni Valentine led Neshannock with two hits in four at bats.

Riverside (14-0 Overall, 9-0 Section 1-3A) will again face the Lancers on Thursday afternoon, hosting the second game of a back-to-back with Neshannock. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. The Panthers wrap up their regular season with a pivotal two-game series against section foe Mohawk (12-2 Overall, 7-1 Section 1-3A) beginning on the road, Monday, May 8th.  Both teams have qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs, but the series will put section championships rights on the line.
