Bernard ” Bernie” J. Pogozelec, 74, of Chewton passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at UPMC Mercy Hospital.
Born December 1, 1941 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late John B. and Anna B. Skoczylas Pogozelec. He was married for 52 years to Dorothy A. (Tedrow) Pogozelec as they were married on June 22, 1963. She survives.
Bernie was the owner and operator of Keystone Lawrence Express Trucking Company in Koppel for over 25 years. He was a member of the former St. Monica Church in Wampum and a current member of St. Joseph the Worker Church in New Castle. He was an avid hunter, musky fisherman and bowler. He enjoyed traveling to casinos.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, survivors include three sons, Bernard E. (Karen) Pogozelec of Chewton, Anthony M Pogozelec of Mercer, Edward J Pogozelec of Chewton; two daughters, Teresa A. Pogozelec of Koppel, Christina (Michael) Baka of New Castle; daughter in law, Lisa Procopio of Chewton; sister, Magdeline (John) Busse of Pittsburgh; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday April 11 from 3 pm until the time of the Blessing Service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Father Frank D. Almade will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
