Edward “Ed” Louis Fox passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born in 1935 in Ellwood City, PA to Milford and Rose (Horvath) Fox. He was the youngest of four children. After graduating from Lincoln High School in the class of 1954, Ed enlisted in the Air Force, where he served for four years.
In 1961, while enrolled at Geneva College, he met Rose Dimasi and they married in June 1962 (on 6/2/62!). They had two children, Gregory and Christie, and lived in New Castle, PA. Faced with the closure of his job in 1978, Ed got a job at TRAK Microwave Corporation in Tampa and the family moved to Dunedin, Florida, where Rose and Ed thrived for more than 20 years. Ed was the neighborhood handyman and often spent weekends helping neighbors install fans, fix windows, and repair fences. When he wasn’t helping others, Ed was golfing or working in his woodshop. He specialized in cutting boards, toys (including foxes), a few tables, and what he liked to call “precision-cut firewood.”
After retirement, Ed and Rose returned to Pennsylvania for a few years to be closer to family, but the good weather and winter golfing in Florida called, and they returned to Clearwater in 2015.
Ed could be quite the character on and off the golf course. He will be remembered for his impish smile, his love of music and a joke, and for sitting outside to talk to the neighbors at On Top of The World. He leaves behind his wife Rose, children Greg Fox and Christie (Shane) Fox, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, and sister Dorothy Hazen.
A celebration of life was held at On Top of the World in Clearwater, FL on April 4, 2023. Tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.
