Mardel P. Hartzel, 80

Mardel P. Hartzel, age 80, of Ellwood City, PA went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2022, while in the care of UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, following a short illness.

She was first and foremost a kind, compassionate, loving person, who always offered a helping hand, broad shoulder, or wise words.  She graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1959.  She had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill, and as a nationwide supervisor/recruiter for First Lady Hair Salons.  Along with her beloved husband, Bill, she was the proud owner of the Especially for You Hair Salon in Ellwood City for over 25 years.  When she wasn’t helping others, she loved taking care of her 2 Pomeranians.  She enjoyed trips to camp, and to Texas, where she had many treasured friends.  Some of her favorite activities included cooking, crafting, sewing, hunting, playing cards, doing puzzles and reading.  But most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her family.  She was such a blessing to all.

Mardel was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Alberta Wigton Wiley, her husband, William Hartzel, and her son-in-law, Steve Tardiff.

She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Tardiff of Ellwood City, her son, Rick (Peggy) Goode of Ellwood City, and her step-son Bill Hartzel, Jr. of New York.  Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Patty (Ray) D’Ambrosio of Ellwood City, her sister, Lana Wiley of New Castle, and her brother, Delmar (Marcia) Wiley of Beaver Falls.  Also surviving are her granddaughter, Tonya (Carl) Morris of Virginia, and her cherished great grandchildren, Xavier and Mackenzie Morris, plus many nieces and nephews.

Her care has been entrusted to Turner Funeral Home of Ellwood City.  There will be no public visitation, per her wishes.  At a later date, there will be a private graveside service.  Her family would like to sincerely thank everyone who had been a part of her wonderful care and support.
