Police: K-9 Team Assists in Drug Arrests, Man Uses Someone Else’s Identity When Pulled Over

K-9 Team Assists in Drug Bust

  • The Ellwood City K-9 team assisted in the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force in an arrest on Pittsburgh Circle on Jan. 25.  According to a criminal complaint filed on Feb. 24, the K-9 team assisted in the arrest of Amanda Hasan and Tim Wilkes, who were wanted for heroin dealing. In addition, the K-9 team confiscated several items in the residence, including a baggie containing 7 grams of cocaine and about 50 white pills from Wilkes’ room. The K-9 team also discovered baggies of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia belonging to Korrie Asif Hasan, age 21. Subsequently, Korrie Hasan was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Providing False Identity to Law Enforcement While Driving Under the Influence

  • According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 21 at approximately 2 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Beaver Avenue without its headlights on. After pulling the vehicle over, the driver identified himself as Shawn Plum and the passenger, Sherri Marie Justison, 22, of Beaver Falls, confirmed this. The driver was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital to  have a blood alcohol content test. The next day, the police received a call from the real Plum who reported that the driver was Brian Michael Adkins, 22, of Beaver Falls, who has previously used Plum’s name when arrested. This was confirmed by officers. Justison was charged with hindering prosecution and false reports to law enforcement authorities. Atkinson was charged with one felony- forgery; four misdemeanors- false reports to law enforcement, false identification to law enforcement and two counts of DUI; and three summary offenses- driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without headlights during required period and driving while license suspended.

Public Drunkenness

  • According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 28, at approximately 12:45 a.m., an officer observed a male stumbling along the hillside of Argonne Boulevard. The male was identified as Cory Joseph Borne, 19, of Moon Township. Borne had a marijuana pipe on his person. He was charged with public drunkenness and prohibited acts. Shortly after the Borne incident, the investigating officer made contact with another suspicious male, identified as Kyle Charles Scott, 18, of McDonald, Pa. Scott had a small baggie of suspected marijuana. According to the complaint filed on Feb. 24, Scott was charged with prohibited acts and possession of marijuana.

DUI

  • According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 1 at approximately 2 a.m., investigating officers pulled a vehicle over for driving erratically on Route 18. The driver, Jack Rao, Jr., 44, of New Castle, appeared intoxicated and was taken to the Ellwood City Hospital. He was charged with two counts of DUI, driving while privilege is suspended and having one headlight burned out.
